On the Ground in the DRC

Reliable Access
to the Minerals
You Need.

North Rowan works exclusively for the buyer. You define the mineral or material, the quantity, the quality specification, the price range and the terms. We go into the market and find it.

We identify, qualify and negotiate with suppliers on your behalf, coordinate every party involved, and stay in the deal until it closes.

Who We Are

A buy-side partner built around your brief.

Most of the mineral and materials market moves through relationships that are hard to see from the outside and harder still to verify. North Rowan exists to close that gap, working as a discreet, buy-side originator who takes a single brief through to a completed transaction.

North Rowan works as your dedicated mandate, taking a single, clearly defined brief: the mineral or material, the volume required, the specification it must meet, the price range that makes sense, and the terms it needs to be delivered on. Our focus on the Democratic Republic of Congo means our team travels in-country to see opportunities firsthand, works through vetted local relationships, and negotiates directly in the language spoken there. North Rowan holds the documentation required to operate as a mandate and broker, and we scan the market for suitable supply, check every opportunity for legitimacy and capability, and negotiate terms on your behalf.

Where a deal involves several parties, such as producers, traders, logistics and finance, we coordinate between them so the buyer has one point of contact from first enquiry to completed transaction.

Why It Matters

The materials behind a cleaner economy are some of the hardest to source responsibly.

Cobalt, copper, tantalum and the wider family of critical minerals sit behind almost every technology the shift to cleaner energy depends on: batteries, electric motors, wind turbines, grid infrastructure. Demand is accelerating faster than most supply chains can responsibly keep pace with.

Sourcing these materials, particularly from Central Africa, carries real risk: unclear provenance, unverified suppliers, and counterparties that don't hold up under scrutiny. Buyers need certainty long before a shipment ever moves.

This is where specialised, on-the-ground knowledge matters. North Rowan's focus on the Democratic Republic of Congo means we work through relationships built over time, in-country, in the language spoken there, not through intermediaries several steps removed from the source.

We bring you pre-vetted, traceable supply, built for buyers who need certainty on provenance, not just price.

Given the DRC's complex operating environment, we treat traceability and compliance as fundamental to every mandate, not an afterthought. Every supplier we put in front of a buyer is checked against the standards international buyers now expect, including anti-money-laundering and conflict-minerals due diligence.

How a Mandate Starts

Every deal begins with a brief.

This is the information we ask for before we go to market: the same five fields, every time.

The Process

From mandate to completed transaction.

The same five stages apply whether the mandate is for a single spot cargo or a recurring supply arrangement.

01
Source
We take the mandate to the market: screening producers, traders and intermediaries who can plausibly meet the mineral, volume and specification the buyer has set out.
02
Qualify
Every candidate supplier is checked before it reaches the buyer: capacity, documentation, track record, and whether the terms on offer genuinely match the brief.
03
Negotiate
We negotiate price and terms on the buyer's behalf, working within the range and conditions set in the original mandate.
04
Coordinate
Where a transaction involves several counterparties, such as logistics, inspection and finance, North Rowan coordinates between them so nothing stalls between agreement and delivery.
05
Complete
We stay engaged through to a completed transaction, not just a signed term sheet.
